Allan Earl Hemingway, 85, passed away peacefully of ailments incident to age on April 20, 2006 in Logan, Utah. Allan was born on March 21, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to Allen W. Hemingway and Bertha Artelt. Al was raised in Chicago where he attended public school. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 – 1946, and then came west to pursue some adventure and an education at Utah State University, graduating in 1950. While a student at USU, Al met Deon Hill. They were married on July 19, 1947 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on February 21, 1950.

Al and Deon were long-time residents of Idaho Falls, where Allan was employed as a transportation supervisor at the Idaho Nuclear Research Facility for 33 years.

Allan was a convert to the LDS Church and his faith was an essential part of his life. He served actively in many capacities, including: Stake High Council, Temple Worker in the Idaho Falls Temple, Ward Clerk, and Boy Scout Leader. He served a full-time mission with his wife in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Mission in 1990. He loved to home teach and did so faithfully until his passing.

Allan and Deon relocated back to Logan in 2002, residing at the Pioneer Valley Lodge retirement center until 2005. Since that time they have been residents at the Logan House.

Allan is survived by his wife Deon of 58 years, and five children: Harriet (Richard) Wheeler of Keystone Height, Florida; Randy (Janette) of West Jordan, Utah; Susan (Curtis) Wall of Smithfield, Utah; Jim (Gina) of Provo, Utah; and Debbie of West Jordan, Utah. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at the North Logan Ward Chapel, located at 2540 North 400 East in North Logan. A viewing will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen- Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St., Logan Utah, and from 9:30 to 10:45 AM prior to services at the church. Interment at the Smithfield Cemetery.
