Anna Poppleton Bingham
WELLSVILLE, UTAH: Anna Poppleton Bingham, wife of
Melvin Ray Bingham, mother of 5 children passed away
on Monday morning, Dec. 4th, 2006 at the Logan
Regional Hospital from an extended illness. She was
born November 20th, 1932, the fourth of six children
born to William L. and Elsie B. Poppleton in
Wellsville, Utah.
She often spoke of her enjoyment of
the companionship of many dear friends and told
stories of helping with her father’s farm while
growing up in Wellsville. She attended Utah State
University and Brigham Young University before
completing a successful mission to the Southwest
Indian Mission in the Arizona/New Mexico area.
She was sealed for time and eternity in the Logan LDS
Temple to M. Ray Bingham on June 27th, 1957. She
supported her husband while he served in the military
at Fort Ord, California. Through the years she worked
at Thiokol as a secretary, with Rockwell International
as management support and at Northrop Defense
Logistics Agency where she received an award for
employee of the year. She remained an active member
of the LDS church throughout her life, serving in many
callings including the Relief Society presidency, MIA,
Primary and loved to write humorous skits while on the
Roadshow Committee.
Her life was greatly enriched by
the opportunities she was blessed with to live in
several places including Pacific Grove and Whittier, California; Zurich, Switzerland; Milan, Italy;
Placentia, California; Moorestown, New Jersey; Song
Tan, Korea; Diamond Bar, California and then finally
retiring to Wellsville. Anna was giving and caring to
all she knew and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her spouse, M. Ray Bingham of
Wellsville, one daughter, Shelly (Kevin) Homer and
three sons David (Loren) Bingham, Bill (Berda)
Bingham, Rick (Michelle) Bingham and 11 grandchildren.
She is also survived by her two sisters Colleen
Leatham, Ruth (Richard) Maughan, and one brother Don
(Karen) Poppleton and sister-in-law Sharon (Dave)
Elwell. She was preceded in death by two siblings,
her son Douglas P. Bingham, her parents William and
Elsie Poppleton and brother-in-law Jack Leatham.
The family would like to express their great
appreciation for the compassion and extra care she
received at the hands of Dr. Jeffrey Strong. We would
also like to acknowledge the special service of the
staff in the ICU, TCU and dialysis units at Logan
Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 8th at
12pm at the Wellsville LDS Chapel, 700 South 100 West, Wellsville. Friends may call on Thursday, Dec. 7th at
the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center in Logan at 6pm
to 8pm and at the LDS Chapel on Friday from 10:30am to
11:30am. Internment will be at the Wellsville City
Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family
