Ardith M Farrell
Ardith M Farrell 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday,
January 17, 2007, at the Logan Regional Hospital. He
was born in Logan on April 17, 1921, to Marion L. and
Dionetia Mortensen Farrell. He was raised in
Smithfield where he resided his entire life in the
Farrell family home.
Ardith attended schools in Cache Valley and graduated
from North Cache High. He also attended Utah State
University for two years.
Most of his adult years were spent as an employee for
the Delmonte Canning Corporation. Ardith was the first
person to do electrical welding in the Smithfield
plant. Throughout most of his adult life he worked at
Delmonte in many capacities: Welder, mechanic,
maintenance foreman, general foreman and assistant
Superintendent. All of these assignments paved the way
for Ardith's advancement.
In 1958 he was appointed the superintendent of the
Franklin, Idaho Delmonte Plant, a position he held for
18 years. Upon Retirement Ardith had worked for
Delmonte a total of39 years.
A man of many talents Ardith also excelled at
gardening, carpentry, repairs and remodeling jobs, and
he especially enjoyed working with his son Craig, in
the roofing business. Being a perfectionist everything
he tackled was always done well. Possibly his greatest
talent was helping and serving others.
Fishing and hunting and spending time with his family
were some of his favorite pastimes.
Ardith was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and was currently serving as a home
teacher in his ward.
The Farrells have three children. Marilyn (John)
Brady, Hyde Park, Craig (Cheryl) Farrell, Smithfield,
and Susan (Paul) Davis, Boise, ID.
Ardith is survived by his children, 8 grandchildren, 7
great grandchildren, and three sisters, Doris F.
MacDonald, Gladys F. Riggs and Eva Dee H. Hales. He
was preceded in death by his wife, Rula, Parents,
Marion and Dionetia, and sisters Loa F. Winget and
Janice Farrell, and great granddaughter Kayla M.
Wright.
Dad, grandpa, companion, brother, neighbor and friend
to all, we love you and will miss you deeply. Funeral
Services will be at 11:00 am on Monday January 22,
2007 in the Smithfield 1st Ward Chapel 175 South 100
West. Friends and family may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
on Sunday January 21,2007, at Nelson Funeral Home, 85
So. Main, Smithfield. A viewing will also be held
prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the
Church. Burial will be in the Smithfield City
Cemetery.
