Betty Andrews Maurer
NIBLEY, UTAH: Betty Andrews Maurer, 51, Our
beautiful Betty passed from us on April 17, 2005, to
find peace with our Father in Heaven. Betty
demonstrated such courage and hope as she fought a
valiant battle with cancer. We are so blessed to have
known Betty and so happy that she shared her life with
us. We will love her forever and will miss our Betty
Boop.
Betty was born on August 28, 1953, to Hal K. and Mary
Lou Larson Andrews in Logan, Utah. She attended Logan
City Schools and at the age of 18 began her lifelong
career at the Logan Employment Office, then Job
Service, and now called the Utah Department of
Workforce Services. She began working as a
receptionist and retired 2 years ago as a Division
Supervisor. Betty enjoyed her career and working with
her many friends there.
Betty became a member of the International Association
of Professional Employment Specialists (IAPES) and
held many positions locally as well as
internationally. She was program chairperson for the
International Conference held in Salt Lake City in
2002. Betty enjoyed her association with IAPES and
the opportunity it afforded her to travel to many
cities across the United States. She cherished the
friendships she made wherever she went and had many
friends who loved her.
Betty met her soul-mate and the love of her life, Tim.
They were married August 16, 1974. Betty and Tim
created a beautiful and loving home for their three
children, Kandace, Nathan, and Tiffani, and together
they taught them the love of families, how to value
work, and especially how to enjoy life.
Betty loved monthly Club meetings with dear friends,
camping adventures, trips to Arizona with friends, the
Bear Lake cabin, gardening, scapbooking, more trips
with friends, collecting Hard Rock Café pins, planning
weddings, interior designing, Lake Powell adventures,
playing Bunco, and trips with family. Betty didn=t
like bugs and screamed loudly enough to be heard miles
away whenever she saw one.
Betty is survived by Tim and her children, Kandace and
her husband Josh (Riverton, UT), Nathan and his wife
McKenzie (Nibley), and Tiffani and her fiancee Brooks
(Nibley). Betty is also survived by her adoring
grandchildren, Austin, Landyn, and Hali, her mother,
Mary Lou, her brother, Doug and his wife Judy, and a
special cousin Bill Larson and his wife Margy. Betty
leaves behind her best friends, Cindy, Cathy, and
Bonnie, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded
in death by her father, Hal (the Coke man), and Tim’s
parents, Phebe and Oscar Maurer.
Betty and the whole family appreciated the caring
support she received during her illness from Dr. Ali
Ben-Jacob and his staff, Carrie, Nancey, Vonda, Emma,
and especially Kathy, Carrie S., and Alyson. Dr.
Ben-Jacob was her rod of hope. The family also wishes
to thank Alpine Hospice for their dedication and
assistance.
We will celebrate Betty=s life on Thursday, April 21
at 1 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan. The
family will greet friends at the mortuary on
Wednesday, April 20, from 6-8 p.m. and from
