Blaine Morris, Jr.
LOGAN, UTAH: Blaine Morris, Jr., 81, our dearly loved
husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend
passed away October 7, 2005 at Ogden Regional Medical
Center due to complications of cancer.
Blaine was born in Beaver, Utah December 15, 1923, the
second of seven children, to Blaine and Ireta Anderson
Morris. He loved Beaver and loved to tell stories of
growing up there. Blaine served in the European
Theater during World War II. After his service he
attended Utah State Agricultural College where he met
the love of his life Helen Bradshaw. They were married
November 21, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Blaine and Helen were blessed with four children:
Stephen Blaine (Marilyn), Bradley Earl (RaNae), both
of Salt Lake, David Bradshaw (deceased) and Julie Ann
(George) Whitney of College Ward.
Blaine worked for the LDS Church Education System for
38 years, teaching in the Seminary and Institute
programs in Logan and working in administrative
capacities in Pocatello and Logan. He loved his career
and his many students. He remembered them all.
After his retirement, Blaine and Helen served a
proselyting mission for the LDS church in the
California Oakland Mission in 1991-1992. Blaine kept
busy with his rental business and his beautiful
Arabian horses. He was as avid reader of the classics,
history and biographies and was also an aspiring
pianist. Blaine loved to spend time with his family
and precious "posterity".
Through the years Blaine served faithfully in the
church and community. He was on the High Council in
the University First Stake and the Mount Logan Stake
were he also served as a councilor in the stake
presidency. He was the High Priest Group Leader twice
in the Logan 23rd Ward and also loved to teach Gospel
Doctrine and was instrumental in helping others find
the gospel as Ward Mission Leader and friend. Blaine
was the president of the Island Irrigation Company and
was active in politics.
Blaine is survived by his wife, Helen, children, 14
grandchildren and 5 great-grand children, his brother
Ray (Shirley) Morris, sisters Mary Jane (Ira) Baldwin,
Virginia (Alton) Marshall, all of Beaver, Utah and
Nancy (Reynold) Dennett of Cedar City, Utah. He was
preceded in death by his parents, an infant son David
Bradshaw Morris, brother Warren Morris and sister
Betty (Aubra) Baldwin.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 12
at 12:00 noon at the Logan
23rd Ward, 565 East 100 South. A viewing will be held
from 6-8 p.m.. Tuesday, October 11 at the Allen -Hall
Mortuary, 34 East Center and at the church one hour
prior to the services. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to the LDS Church Perpetual
Education fund. Condolences may be sent to the family
