Charlotte Lucille Madsen
Logan, Utah: Charlotte Lucille Madsen died on Monday,
May 5, 2008, at Williamsburg Retirement Center at the
age of 87.
She was born on September 4, 1920 to Charles and Edna
Sayers. She grew up in Belgrade, Montana, with her
four sisters: Mildred, Helen, Betty and Alice. There
were also two brothers: Don and Bill (deceased). They
were a fun-loving, close knit family.
She met and married a young cowboy name Joe Madsen,
who had come to Montana to work on a ranch. They were
married on February 15, 1941, and honeymooned on a
cattle drive. Their marriage was later solemnized in
the Logan LDS Temple. Joe died in 1993.
In 1946, they moved their three little girls from
Montana to Logan where Joe’s family lived.
Charlotte was an excellent seamstress and worked for
several years at the Logan Knitting Mills, sewing
ladies’ designer clothing. In 1961, she began a
22-year career as a drivers license examiner. She
retired in 1983.
She is survived by her three daughters: Barbara Jo
(Theron) Burgess of Corvallis, Oregon, Edna (Doug)
Eames of Logan, Utah, and Connie (Michael) Keller of
College Park, Maryland. She has ten grandchildren and
21 great-grandchildren.
For many years she has been an avid Utah Jazz fan.
At the end of each game she relived each play with
friends and sisters.
For the past five years she has lived at Williamsburg
where she made many friends. She loved the staff
there. We thank them for their kindness and excellent
care, especially Kimette Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday,
May 9, 2008 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary. A viewing
will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and prior to services on
Friday beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in
the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to
the family at Allen Mortuaries.
