Courtney Alvin Jensen
Courtney Alvin Jensen, 79, passed away September 4, 2004, at Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah due to heart disease. He was born July 4, 1925 in College Ward, Utah to Carl Alvin Jensen and Anna Sophia Clawson. He grew up in Cache Valley and attended Cache County schools. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines.
After coming home from the war, he began his career as a farmer working with his father. He met Norrienne Painter at an LDS M-Men and Gleaner activity. They were married a year later on Jan. 23, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. Courtney and Norrienne were devoted to each other and raised a family of 11 children. Courtney was active in the LDS church and served in many positions throughout his life. He and Norrienne enjoyed serving together as officiators in the Logan LDS Temple.
Courtney was much loved and admired by his family. He was an example and inspiration to his family and friends by the way he lived his life. He was fair, honest and kind. He enjoyed his life's work of farming and custom grain cutting. He was a wonderful father who always enjoyed working with his children and taking family vacations when they were young. Many happy times were spent as a family on vacations, fishing trips, snowmobiling and working together. He was happiest in his later years when working with his son Darrell on the farm and when he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Norrienne preceded him in death as did his mother and father. He is survived by his seven daughters and four sons: Marlene Nielsen (Douglas), Hyrum; Karen Puloma (Frank) Santa Fe, N.M.; Sharyl Haderlie (Lloyd), American Falls, Idaho; Richard Jensen (Shelley), Young Ward; Marvin Jensen (Helen), Willard; Elaine Fukui (Norman), Tremonton; Clairice Paterson (Colin), Cardston, Alberta; Darrell Jensen (Heather), Young Ward; Ronald Jensen (Nancy), North Logan; Lynette Curtis (Don), Boise, Idaho; AnnaLee Isrealsen (Martin), North Logan. He is also survived by 59 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, his sister Margene Willie of Mendon, and his brother Alton Jensen of Logan.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, Sept. 9 in the College Young Ward Church, 2394 W. 2200 South, Young Ward. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. and from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at the church before services. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion.
