Clarice T. Tolson
Anna Clarice Thompson Tolson, 71, passed away on
January 8, 2007 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City,
with her loving family around her. Clarice was born
on May 14, 1935 in Logan, Utah to Herman LeRoy and
Jennie Buttars Thompson, the oldest of four children.
She grew up in Clarkston, Utah with her many friends
and family until her family moved to Logan in 1956.
She graduated from North Cache High School and
Seminary with honors. Clarice married Jon Piers
Tolson on June 26, 1959 in Logan, later divorced.
Clarice worked at Walker Bank/First Interstate Bank
for almost 30 years as a teller and secretary and
loved the friends and customers she worked with. She
was a personable and helpful lady, who loved people
and was loved in return. She retired from banking and
enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, friends
and attending USU football and basketball games. She
was a passionate, devoted Aggie fan and season ticket
holder and rarely missed Jazz basketball. Clarice was
the treasurer for the Cache Valley Civic Ballet for
many years and could always be found in the audience
or backstage giving hugs and praise to the dancers.
She made friends wherever she went and had a talent
for writing notes and cards to those she loved in her
beautiful cursive handwriting. Clarice loved music
and sang and played the piano beautifully. She also
loved crocheting flannel baby blankets for her
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other lucky
babies. Clarice loved and supported her family by
attending soccer games, piano recitals, Primary
programs and ballet performances.
Clarice was recently in the Logan House Branch Relief
Society Presidency and loved to serve and visit with
the members there and her good friends in the
presidency. She was an ordinance worker in the Logan
Temple for five years and loved the service and the
wonderful friends she made there. Clarice has
attended and served in many callings in the Logan
Ninth Ward for over 40 years, including the Relief
Society, Jr. Sunday School and as a pianist and
chorister. She loves her ward, branch and temple
families and has missed being with her many friends
through the holidays. Clarice new the true meaning of
friendship and love and will be dearly missed by her
family, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Surviving are her two children, Bret Piers (Malinda)
Tolson of Nibley, and Angela (Jeffrey) Smart of Salt Lake City; grandchildren Nicole, Heather and Benjamin
Tolson and Andrew and Anna Smart; sister, Arba Jean
Kerr of Twin Falls, Idaho, and brothers, Tony (Sharon)
Thompson of Salt Lake City, and Royce (Jean) Thompson
of Bear River City. She is preceded in death by her
parents, Herman and Jennie Thompson, her
brother-in-law, Lynn B. Kerr and nephew Darren
Thompson.
Clarice’s family would like to extend their deep
gratitude to the LDS Hospital Respiratory ICU nurses,
doctors and therapists who lovingly and carefully
watched over her during this last month.
