Cecil Lyle Pitkin
Cecil Lyle Pitkin passed away at his home on February
3, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. He was born
on August 10, 1927 in Logan, son of Willard Cecil and
Evelyn Brown Pitkin. He was the first of five boys.
Cecil Lyle married Lorene June Pearson, July 11, 1950
in Cornish Utah. He grew up in Logan, attending Logan
City Schools and graduated in 1946. He then joined the
Army and took his basic training in Fort Knox
Kentucky. He then served one year in Korea before
being honorably discharged in 1947.
Cecil Lyle had many jobs including, Rockwool Co., Zollinger Honey
Co., Union Pacific Railroad, Sears and Thiokol where
he retired in 1990. He loved singing and playing the
guitar, hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, and
golfing. He loved being a grandpa and great-grandpa.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1995 and
has suffered from lung disease for several years.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 55 years, Lorene.
Three daughters and one son, Susan (Lynn) Goldsberry,
Millville UT, Debra (Glade) Smith, Smithfield UT,
Nancy (Gary) Buttars, Logan UT, and Rodney (Lorrie)
Pitkin, Logan UT. Fourteen Grandchildren, Angie (Ken)
Nelson, Henderson NV, Tami (Jayson) Curtis, Millville
UT, Ryan (Jamie) Goldsberry, Woodscross UT, Steffanie
(James) Burt, Logan UT, David (Cydnee) Smith, Syracuse
UT, Dustin Smith, Smithfield UT, Brandon (Andrea)
Buttars, North Logan UT, Cody (Carly) Buttars, Logan
UT, Trevor and Alisa Buttars Logan UT, Jennifer,
Christopher, Tiffany and Amanda Pitkin, Preston ID.
Two Step-Grandchildren, Stephanie and Jeremy Leishman.
Four Great-Grandchildren, Dallin and Katelyn Burt,
Gracie Ann Curtis, and McKayla Goldsberry. Three
Step-Great Grandchildren, Kalub and Kason Porter, and
Markell Walker. Four Brothers, George Leonard
(Marjean) Smithfield UT, Richard (Gayle) Layton UT,
Darrell, Riverside UT, Jay (Julia) currently serving a
mission in Damascus Syria. Best Friend and Cousin Bob
(Bev) Brown, Arnold California.
Preceding him in death
were his Parents, Parents-in-law, Lars and Gladys
Pearson, Sister-in-laws, Erlyn Pitkin, Leone and Joan
Pearson. Brother-in-laws, Dean Pearson and Ervin
Merrill.
The family would like to thank their special neighbors
as well as, Dr. Stones and IHC Hospice (especially
Dodie) for their special care.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday,
February 7, 2004 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary. A
viewing will be held on Sunday evening, February 6,
2004 from 6 to 8 PM and one hour prior to services on
Monday. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery
with military honors by the American Legion. Online
condolences may be sent to the family at
Allen-Hall Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Parkinson's Foundation or IHC Hospice of Cache Valley.
