Charles William (Bill) Smith
Charles William (Bill) Smith Passed away October 8 at
Logan Regional Hospital. He was born December 15, 1930
in Logan, Utah to Mary Ellen Reynolds and Andrew
Smith.
He married the love of his life Peggy Mae Benson on
November 5, 1954, in the Logan Temple for time and all
eternity. From this joyous union came four children;
Reese (Jenny) Smith of Logan, Christine (deceased),
David Lynn (deceased) and Robert (Kristi) Smith of
Logan. Bill also had four grandchildren whom he
adored; Jeffery, Shayna, Tanner and McKaley.
Bill was employed by Ogden Defense Depot for the first
five years of their marriage. Soon after that he
worked for Utah State University in the Housing
Department, where he received many awards for his
outstanding performance and perfect attendance. He
retired after 33 years of service.
Bill was an active member of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many positions;
a Home Teacher, Sunday School President, High Priest
where he greeted and loved his fellow brothers. Each
Sunday he would look forward to filling his pocket
full of smarties, where the children of the ward would
seek him out, and he would give them a roll of
smarties in exchange for a great big hug!
He was an avid outdoorsman where he loved to go
hunting and fishing with his boys. After he retired in
1995 his love for fishing continued as he had more
time to enjoy spending time with Lee and his boat
(Thank you Lee!) We always enjoyed hearing his fish
tales, especially about the ones that got away!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Smith
and Mary Ellen Reynolds, his daughter Christine, and
his son David Lynn, his brother John Andrew (Jack)
Smith, his sisters, Marianne Robinette and Margret
Pilkington.
Bill was greatly loved and will be missed
by family and friends.
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 11,
2005 from 6-8 pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East
Center Street.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October
12 at 10:00 am at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, with
a viewing an hour prior to the services. Interment
services will be held at the Logan City Cemetery
We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Hirst
for years of care, Dr. Hampton, Dr. Strong, and the
hospital staff. Also the many members of his ward that
showed compassion and love toward him. We love and
appreciate you, and all that you have done.
