David Ray Stone, Jr.
David Ray Stone, Jr., passed away peacefully on
Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Logan, Utah. He was born
June 2, 1920, in Teton, Idaho to D. Ray and Sarah N.
Stone.
He was an Eagle Scout. He served in the East
Canadian LDS Mission from 1939 to 1941. He received
his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the
University of Utah and obtained his Ph.D. in
educational psychology from the University of Chicago
in 1945. He was employed at Utah State University as a
professor of educational psychology for 39 years. He
was honored as Teacher of the Year for his work in
developing teaching skills.
He married Beverlee Bee Brown in the Salt Lake LDS
Temple on September 15, 1943. They were happily
married for 63 years.
He served in many positions in the LDS Church
including bishop of the Logan, Utah, LDS 18th Ward. He
also served for many years on the ward Boy Scout troop
committee.
He loved to fish and could often be found in the
evening or on a Saturday with one or more of his boys
on one of the local streams or reservoirs. He also
loved to build, remodel, and take his family on
wonderful vacations around the western U.S.
He is survived by his wife, Bee, and five of their six
children: David (Mary Bishop), Daniel (Nancy), Mark
(Halli), Lawrence (Tami, and Walter (Jean), 18
grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, his sisters
Ruth (Paul) Lyon, and Shirley Storrs. He is preceded
in death by his youngest son, Samuel, who passed away
when he was five years old, his parents, and his
sister, Mary Lou (Paul) Romney.
Thank you Dad for teaching us how to work, study, love
our mother, and serve others.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 12, 2006
at 11:00 AM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center
Street, Logan, Utah. A family gathering will be held
that same day at 10:00 am at the Allen-Hall Mortuary.
Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. In lieu
of flowers, please send donations to the Media Center,
Adams School Library, 530 North 400 East, Logan, Utah
