Dell Conrad “Brownie” Hansen
Dell Conrad “Brownie” Hansen, 83, passed away March
15, 2007 in North Logan.
He was born September 19, 1923 in College Ward, Utah
to Abraham and Agnes Marie Petersen Hansen. He was the
14th of 17 children. He married Doris Mary Baker,
November 25, 1942 and together they had 7 children.
They were later divorced. He married Patricia James on
September 29, 1979. They were later divorced.
Brownie grew up on the family farm in College Ward
were he learned the value of hard work and acquired
the nickname “Brownie” due to his suntanned skin as a
result of many hours in the sun. He and his brothers
were well known for their athletic ability on the
baseball field. He attended South Cache High School.
Dell and Doris, with their young family, managed their
own farm west of Logan in the early years of their
marriage. He later owned and operated Hansen Septic
Tank Company for many years. He enjoyed running his
backhoe and setting septic tanks for many customers
throughout Cache Valley as well as southern Idaho and
the Bear Lake area. Upon retiring from the septic tank
business, he and his son owned Hansen’s Used Cars.
Most recently his “work” has included daily visits to
Angie’s Restaurant and weekly trips to the Smithfield
Auction.
Brownie is survived by his 6 children; Kay (Effie) of
Butte, Montana, Pauline (Danny) Harris of Logan, Mike
(Debbie) Hansen of Hyrum, Kathy (Clayne) Liechty of
Nibley, Sandra (Todd) Davis of Smithfield, and Susan
Gillies of Logan. Also surviving are two brothers,
Bill and Robert Hansen, both of Logan, and a sister,
Rhoda Duce of Lancaster, California. He is the
grandfather of 18 grandchildren, 26
great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, 6
brothers and 7 sisters.
Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East
Center in Logan on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00
P.M. and on Tuesday morning from 10:30 until the time
of the service. Funeral services will be held at the
Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel at 12 noon with Bishop
Craig Anhder conducting. Interment will be in the
Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the
family at Allen Mortuaries.
