Donna Arlene Larson
LOGAN, UTAH: Donna Arlene Larson 82, passed away
peacefully of natural causes on May 22, 2007 with
family at her side. Donna was born September 26, 1924
in Ogden, Utah to Georgia Mae and Elmer Broome.
She
graduated from Ogden High School where she was an
honor student and active in yell leading. She later
attended Weber State College and the University of
Utah. She was a very popular student at the University
of Utah including being a member of the Delta Delta
Delta sorority where she made many lifetime friends.
She worked as an executive secretary for the
administration of Hill Airforce Base during World War
II.
Donna met her sweetheart, Hale Joseph Larson at the U
of U and married him on September 26, 1947 in Salt
Lake City, Utah. They later moved to Grand Junction,
Colorado, where Hale managed Grand Wholesale Grocery
Company and Donna worked for Rocky Mountain HMO as a
medical secretary . She was a mother and homemaker
while also working for Pattersen and Waldrups
Orthopaedic practice.
She served in many positions in the Primary and Relief
Society in several Grand Junction wards. On March
19,1975 she was sealed to her sweetheart Hale, for
time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple by President
Thomas S. Monson. Her example and sacrifice enabled
three of her sons to serve LDS missions.
Donna's passion was in loving and serving the youth.
Her spirit and enthusiasm helped to establish meeting
places for the youth as well as opportunities to
enhance their social skills such as dancing
instructions. Her never ending quick wit and sense of
humor resulted in her authoring many road shows,
school skits, employee roasts, and poems. Grandma
always had her "joke book". Donna's other passion was
cooking for her family and many of her recipes are
still family favorites and prepared on special
occasions.
Although physically strong, unfortunately
the last several years she battled chronic depression.
This illness deprived her of her ability to use her
wonderful talents to let her fun and outgoing
personality shine to its fullest.
Donna was preceded in death by Hale, who died April
30, 1999. She then moved to Utah to be closer to her
sons. Her final move was to Logan, Utah where she
resided at Legacy House. Staff there frequently
commented on her smile and unending love and devotion
to her 5 sons who she always bragged about; in her
eyes, they were perfect! Her legacy of friendship,
integrity, hardwork, sense of humor, faith, and
spirituality will always be with us.
Donna is survived by five sons: Jeffry (Jeannie)
Provo, Utah; Marc, Laguna Beach, California; Brad
(Kelly) North Logan, Utah; Todd (Diana) North Logan,
Utah; and Blake (Kristin) London, England. She has 23
grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is
preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy and Dolores
and her brother Elmer.

12:00 pm at the Wasatch Lawns Memorial Cemetery, 3401
