Dorothy R. Demler
PROVIDENCE, UTAH–Dorothy R. Demler, passed away on
Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Logan Regional
Hospital.
Step by uncertain step, Dorothy has walked her way
through nearly 87 ˝ years in Providence town that she
dearly loved. She was child number 10 in a family of
11 children born to Ernest & Francis Demler on October
28, 1920. Her parents immigrated from Zwickau,
Germany. They settled in Providence. Dorothy received
her education in Cache County schools.
She has walked her way through life, making friends
along the way. She enjoyed reminiscing of days and
people gone by. She loved to be outside, chatting with
people who passed by – jogging, walking, pushing
babies in strollers, whatever. Dorothy helped her
mother raise several nieces and nephews so long as
there was a need, as well as keeping an eye out for
neighborhood children. Some of them liked to hang out
with her on her front steps.
As each one of her siblings left home, she became a
little more independent until being the last one home,
even her mother had passed away, she learned to live
alone. Thanks to the many kind people who took the
time to stop and give her a ride to Logan and back.
Also appreciated were neighbors and friends who
stopped in, giving her yummy treats and gifts. A
special thanks extended to Dr. Steven Salisbury, the
many nurses at the hospital and home care nurses that
took care of Dorothy. Also, a special thanks to Brenda
and her compassionate service over the last 15 years.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints and has been a visiting teacher. She
will be missed.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on
Wednesday, March 5 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East
Center St in Logan. A viewing will be held from 7-8:00
pm on Tuesday, March 4 and one hour prior to services
at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Providence
City Cemetery. Condolences and thoughts may be
expressed to the family online at
Allen Mortuaries.
