Emily Elder Barrus
Logan, Utah: Emily Elder Barrus passed away Monday
evening December 27, 2004 due to a car accident. She
will be sorely missed by all her friends and family.
Emily was the bright side in so many of our lives.
Emily was born May 18, 1978 in Logan, UT to Reed and
Valerie Elder. Emily grew up in a great neighborhood
in Hyde Park, UT, and attended schools in the Cache
County. She graduated from Sky View High School in
1996 were she participated on the swim team. She
continued her education at Utah State University and
graduated in 1999 with a degree in Family Human
Development with and emphasis in early childhood
development.
She worked for a few years managing some of the
children's labs at USU. Finally her father lured her
to work for him full time at Cache Honda Yamaha where
Emily was his right hand man (woman). Her dream though
was to open a pre school someday, Emily loved
children.
Emily married Darcey Grant Barrus Feb, 14, 2001 in the
Bountiful Temple; they have been married for almost
four years and were expecting their first child, a
girl, in March.
Emily was a big strength to our families. She was
always helping others out with a smile on her face.
Emily was met on the other side by her Grandmothers,
Mary Demonja and Ilene Elder. Grandfathers-in-law Glen
Rich and Grant Barrus and also
brothers-in-law; Tony and Kenny Barrus.
Emily leaves behind her faithful and loving husband
Darcey who was always there for her. Her parents; Reed
and Valerie Elder (Hyde Park), siblings Benjee Elder
(Atlanta GA), Melanie and Gerardo Zurita (Santiago
Chile) Kassey and James Nell (Hyde Park), Lindsey and
Wesley Elder (Hyde Park). Parents in laws; Mark and
Linda Barrus (Afton Wyoming), siblings, Stacey and
Manu Barrus (Provo UT) Brittany and Kimalee Barrus
(Afton, WY).
Funeral services will be conducted by Bishop Boyd
Rowley on Thursday December 30, 2004 at the Cliffside
LDS church on 1350 Eastridge Dr, Logan, UT. A viewing
will be held Wednesday December 29, 2004 at the
Allen-Cranney Mortuary, 420 E 1800 N, North Logan, UT
from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and at the Church on Thursday
from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment
will be at the Hyde Park Cemetery.
