Evelyn Rainbow Kirby
Evelyn Rainbow Kirby, 92, of Hyde Park, Utah passed
away on Friday, July 15, 2005 at

She was born in Wealdstone, Middlesex, England (near
London) on December 21, 1912 to Ernest Albert and
Roseline Amelia Bowyer Rainbow. At the age of seven
she immigrated to America with her family after the
death of her father. Though she was young when she
sailed to America she has always had fond memories of
her early years in England. At the age of 33 she
became a citizen of the United States.
After coming to Utah, Evelyn lived in Wellsville and
attended Wellsville Elementary
School and South Cache High School. She met her
husband, Earl T. Kirby, while attending a
dance at the Dansante in Logan. They were married on
July 13, 1931 in Ogden, Utah. Their
marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
They made their home in Hyde Park and enjoyed 57 years
together before Earl passed away in 1989. Since March
2001 Evelyn has been living at Terrace Grove Assisted
Living Center in Logan where she has made many new
friends.
Evelyn spent the early years of her marriage
helping her husband run the family farm.
She also worked part-time in the Treasury Office at
the Cache County Courthouse and was a member and
secretary to the Ladies Mayors Auxiliary at the time
her husband served as mayor of Hyde Park. She is a
member of the LDS Church and has served in positions
in the Primary and Relief Society.
Evelyn has traveled to many interesting places
throughout the United States with her
husband and for many years spent each winter in
Arizona with her daughter and son-in-law.
She found great joy in being a mother and grandmother
and will be greatly missed by her
family.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Russell and
Beverly Clow, Mesa, Arizona; Gordon and Donna Kirby,
Smithfield; Sharon and Delwyn Howell, Hyde Park;
Michael and Jalean Kirby, Hyde Park; sister-in-law,
Vonna F. Rainbow, Clayton, California; 10

Earl; brothers, Ernest B.
Rainbow and Conrad Leishman; a sister, Constance
Rainbow; a daughter-in-law, Tamra E.
Kirby; a grandson, Justin M. Kirby and a
great-grandson, L. J. Chadez.
