Evelyn Parker Larsen
Logan, Utah: Our dear mother, grandma, aunt and
friend, Evelyn Parker Larsen, 93, died peacefully on
Sunday morning, November 14, 2004.
A lifelong resident of Cache Valley, Evelyn was born
in Wellsville, Utah on March 22, 1911. She married
Hendrick Olsen Larsen in 1931 and enjoyed a life with
him for 51 years before his passing in 1982. Evelyn
lived in their Logan home for 72 years.
Evelyn always led an active life! She served in a
number of women’s organizations and church callings, as
the Primary President of the Logan 15th Ward, and even
as a ward Relief Society President at the age of 83.
She was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers
for many years. Evelyn met nearly everyone in Logan
while she worked at Dave’s Bakery for over 20 years!
Most notably, Evelyn brought joy to everyone she
encountered. She was known to talk to anyone who
would listen, and make friends with every person she
met. Her home was a refuge that many longed to visit–
she never let anyone leave without a great
conversation or a full stomach. Her love for life was
visible in her beautiful flowerbeds around her home,
and the hand knit afghans she made for her entire
family.
Evelyn is survived by her three children, Patricia
(Larsen) and Claude Blomquist of North Logan, Louis
and Karen (Larsen) Madsen of Fairfield, California,
and Richard and Brenda Larsen of North Logan, 13
grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and more on the
way. She was preceded in death by her husband, her
parents, and her sister and her three brothers.
Mom, Grandma, Aunt, Friend, we love you. Thank you
for the inspiration you have been in our lives. Your
presence will surely be missed, and we look forward to
a glorious reunion someday.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday,
November 18, 2004 in the Logan 15th Ward Chapel.
Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM
at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, and prior to services at
the church on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Burial
will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
