Elden E. Mauchley
Nibley: Elden E. Mauchley, 92, passed away peacefully
at his home in Nibley on February 9, 2005.
He was born February 28, 1912 in Nibley, UT to Ernest
John and Luella Rassmussen Mauch ley. He was the
eldest of eight children: Glen, Grant, Phyllis,
Theron, Fern, Russell, and Don.
He grew up in Nibley and attended Millville Elementary
and South Cache High School. He was not able to attend
college but provided a way for his children to have
that opportunity.
He married Sarah Petersen in the Logan LDS temple June
20,1934. They had two children, Dean (Carolyn)
Mauchley and Peggy (Jay) Tuddenham.
He spent time in Panama during WWII guarding the
Panama Canal. He was the produce manager for several
grocery stores: Royal Grocery, the City Grocery, IGA
Foodliner, and Macey's. He also worked 10 years at
Thoikol. He had a good work ethic and impressed many
with the large yard and garden he cared for during the
summer.
He was a High Priest in the LDS church, and spent many
hours in the service of others. He accepted both Ward
and Stake callings and loved serving at the baptistry
at the Logan temple. But his favorite calling was
being a home teacher. He said that he lived in the
best neighborhood in the world because his friends and
neighbors were so good to him.
He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Toolson
(Smithfield), his two children, Dean and Peggy, and
his 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1
great-great granddaughter.
