EvaLue Jardine Thompson Bowen
EvaLue Jardine Thompson Bowen passed away peacefully
in the evening of March 21, 2007 at Sunshine Terrace
in Logan, UT. EvaLue was born at home in Clarkston, UT
on July 2, 1925 to James Heggie and Margaret Buttars
Jardine; the fourth of five children.
EvaLue married
her first love, Fayne Weldon Thompson on April 23,
1942 in Preston, ID. To this union was born their only
child, Bonnie Lue. EvaLue possessed a strong work
ethic. Early in her marriage she worked along side her
husband on the family farm. She labored plucking
turkeys, worked at two dress factories and spent 25
years at Safeway.
After 18 years of marriage Fayne
died on Nov 15, 1960. They were later sealed in the
Logan LDS Temple October 23, 1993.
Single again, EvaLue and her good friend Ida McBride
enjoyed traveling and spending time together. She met
Paul W. Bowen and they were married at her home in
Clarkston, UT on April 23, 1965.
She helped raise his
four boys from his first marriage and loved them as
her own. Paul shared her love of horse which gave them
years of enjoyment. After Paul's death on Christmas
Day of 2004, EvaLue moved from their long time home in
Hyrum to Terrace Grove Assisted Living in Logan, UT.
She had a sweet tooth and her grandchildren knew there
would always be cookies in the cookie jar. Those that
loved her heard her say "What would we do without
family?" The love of her family gave her life purpose
and her faith gave it meaning and helped her recover
from severe injuries sustained in a car accident in
1973 and to battle cancer in 1995.
EvaLue was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, serving as a teacher and in the
Relief Society and Primary presidencies. She often
said "If I don't go to church on Sunday I am confused
for the rest of the week." Her inability to drive
didn't stop her from regular temple attendance.
EvaLue survived her parents and sisters Margaret (Sid)
Godfrey, Venice (Paul) Pedersen, Nadine (DeVerl) Hess,
stepson G. L. Bowen, and grandson Ryan Bowen. She is
survived by brother Ira (Margaret) Jardine, children
Bonnie (Bill) Saurey, North Logan; Nick (Jill),
Wellsville; Dewey (Tami), Garden City; Marshall, Mt
Angel, OR; and nine grandchildren, seven
great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday,
March 26, 2007 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E.
Center St., Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held on
Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall
Mortuary and prior to services on Monday from 10:30 to
11:30 AM. Interment will be in the Clarkston City
Cemetery.
The family wishes to express appreciation
to Terrace Grove Assisted Living, Sunshine Terrace and
Access Hospice for their gentle, comforting and
personalized care. Condolences may be sent to the
family at Allen Mortuaries.
