Floyd Seeholzer Wilhelm
Together Again
Floyd Seeholzer Wilhelm, 93, died Wednesday, February
27, 2008, at Logan Regional Hospital, from causes
incident to age.
He was born May 18, 1914 in North Logan, Utah and was
the sixth child of four brothers and two sisters born
to Louis E. and Lydia Seeholzer. He attended
elementary school in North Logan and North Cache High
School in Richmond, Utah. He grew up on the family
farm in North Logan. He worked with his father
repairing cars and in the blacksmith shop located on
the farm.
He married a hometown girl, Delilah Palmer, on Sept.
29, 1939. Their marriage was later solemnized in the
Logan LDS Temple. She passed away Jan. 18, 1989. He
worked as an auto mechanic at car dealers in Logan and
for the U.S. Forest Service as a heavy duty equipment
mechanic. He started working on aircraft and aircraft
engines in 1939 and received his Aircraft and Aircraft
Engine Mechanic License issued by the Civil
Aeronautics Administration in 1940. He was made a
designated aircraft maintenance inspector by the CAA
in June 1946. This enabled him to release aircraft for
flight after major repairs or the mandatory yearly
inspection. He spent several years working on
airplanes in Cache, Box Elder, Weber and Davis
counties.
He spent five years as project supervisor at the
research foundation, an affiliate of Utah State
University, in the development and building of
oversnow vehicles and made trips to the North Slope of
Alaska on field tests.
With the opening of Thiokol Research and Development
Plant, he started working for them on the development
and building of the Minuteman rocket engines. Due to
his past experience, he received an engineer's rating.
After final development of the engine, the project was
completed.
He accepted a job with Schreiber Food, preparing for
the opening of the plant. He was in charge of the
boilers and refrigeration until his retirement in May
1977. He has served on the Cache County Senior Citizen
Advisory Council.
Surviving are his children and their spouses: Colleen
and Larry D. Swensen, Logan; F. Clayne Wilhelm, North
Logan; Sarah Adell and Clinton Smith, Salt Lake City;
RaNae and Ray Lechtenberg, Roy; and Robert K. and Anne
Wilhelm, North Logan. He has 12 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.

North, North Logan on Sunday, March 2, 2008, from 6
p.m. to 8 p.m.
Graveside services will be held Monday, March 3, 2008,
at 11:00 a.m., at the Logan City Cemetery, 1200 East
900 North
