Fred Spencer Rex, 91, passed away on Tuesday May 17, 2005. He was born May 12, 1914, in Randolph, Utah to Alfred G. and Maude Spencer Rex.

He married Elise Maurer Misener in 1956, later being sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. Love, friendship and togetherness was their happiness.

He spent his early life between Logan and the Rex cattle ranch in Randolph, learning early about cattle, horses, and hard work. He announced rodeo's in Utah, California and Washington.

He attended school in Logan, and graduated in 1939 with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Utah State Agricultural College, now Utah State University. He was active in student affairs.

After graduation he began working with the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. He worked in many capacities, taking time out for World War II. He was located in Utah, Idaho and Wahington. He also associated with the Northwest Chemical Co. as a field representative.

In 1942 he enlisted in the U. S. Army as a private. He served four years in the European Theater of War. He was released in 1946 as a major.

In 1971 he started the Rex Distributing Co., a wholesaler of "Jerky" and other associated items.

After retirement, he served an LDS mission in the southern states. He was active in many church callings including, Elder's Quorum presidency, stake Sunday School presidency, High Priest group leader and high councilman in the Mount Logan and USU 3rd LDS Stakes. He served two years as an officiator in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple and 14 years as a sealer in the Logan LDS Temple. He served four-and-a-half years as a supervisor of the sealing department.

Fred is survived by step-son, Reid D. Misener (Neva) and step-daughter, Jackie Dunn (Ralph), 5 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grand children and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elise Rex; his parents Alfred G. and Maud Spencer Rex; sister, Myrtle; brothers, Elden and Leland and one grandson, Scott R. Dunn.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, May 20, 2005, 34 East Center in Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to services from 10:30 to 11:45 AM. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
