Harlow Roland Griffin
Harlow Roland Griffin aged 84 of Newton, UT passed
peacefully away 13 Aug. 2005 in the LDS Hospital in
Salt Lake City, UT of complications following
open-heart surgery. Harlow was a life long resident of
Newton where he was born 12 Mar. 1921 to Roland A. and
Alice A. Griffin as the oldest of their 7 children. He
attended grade school in Newton and was a graduate of
North Cache High School.
He married his high school sweetheart, Nora Pauline
Hurst, 19 Dec. 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple. In Feb.
194b he left to serve his country during WWII. He
served in the European Theater as a gunner and Lance
Cpl. and-was honorably released in 1945 at the
conclusion of the war. Dad was always a patriotic man
and had a great respect for those who have served this
country in times of both war and peace.
After he returned from the war he started his own farm
which he owned and operated his entire life. He loved
all animals, but held a special place in his heart for
dogs.
Dad was such a compassionate and generous man, who was
always looking for ways to help others in need, be
that his own family or a complete stranger. He loved
to sing and over the years has sung for countless
family gatherings, programs, and many funerals. He
sang in the choir, he sang in a barbershop quartet, he
sang at home, in the field, on the tractor and when he
was going places in the car. We can safely say that he
is already singing in the choirs of heaven.
