Logan, Utah: James Douglas Watson, Nov. 11, 1931 - Sept. 29, 2007, survived by his spouse, Eleanor, children, Jean (Richard) McClannahan, Dan Watson, Ann Watson (Jade) Seifert; grandchildren, Brandon (Celeste), Kristy, and Matthew McClannahan. Preceded in death by his parents, Will and Dorothy Watson and his only sibling, a brother, Bruce Watson.

James earned his PhD in mathematics at Iowa State University, and subsequently was associated with the Mathematics Dept. at Utah State University until his retirement in 1987. During his professional career he spent two sabbatical years working for CSIRO in Perth, Australia, and one school year as a Fulbright Exchange teacher in London, England. He was a life member of the Mathematical Association of America.

A private family gathering celebrating his life will be held in lieu of a public funeral. If they wish to, friends may make a contribution towards Alzheimer's research, in memory of Jim, to the Alzheimer's Association (Logan Office, 170 North Main, Logan, UT 84321).
