COVE, UTAH: June Oliverson Kingsford, 89, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2007 in Logan, Utah two weeks away from her 90th birthday.

June was born to Levi and Martha Whitehead Oliverson in Franklin, Idaho on June 1, 1917. She was the youngest of eight children. During her school years, she learned to play the trumpet and developed a great love for the music of John Philip Sousa. She was active in school activities as a thespian, singer, cheerleader and one of her proudest moments were when she was elected student body president her senior year at Franklin High School and chosen to be Valedictorian. She moved to Logan after her graduation where she attended Utah State Agricultural College for a short time and recalls walking uphill over two miles to school.

She met Alton Kingsford on June 15, 1937 at the Idaho Day celebration in Franklin. They got engaged near her birthday in 1938 and were married in the Logan Temple on April 20, 1939. Alton and June settled in Cove. In 1940, June and Alton opened Kingsford Korner which held center stage in Cove until it was demolished for the highway expansion. Kingsfords Korner served as much more than a mere service station ­- it functioned as the social gathering place for their community. June was instrumental in the running of the service station until it closed around 1991 shortly before Alton passed away.

June was passionate about music and had a beautiful voice. She was always happy to favor friends, family, and nurses with her rendition of "How Great Thou Art" which was her favorite hymn. She was involved in the Singing Mothers and was able to sing at the rededication of the Logan Temple. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints her entire life. She held many positions in the church including Primary chorister, church custodian with Alton, ward historian, and led the music in Relief Society until about 2005. She loved to crochet and shared that talent with her friends and family freely. Hot pads, dishcloths, and afghans crocheted with love and great attention to detail are prized possessions of her friends and family. June had a delightful sense of humor and enjoyed visits from family and friends in Cove.

She is survived by seven children: Clinton (Nancy) Kingsford of Rexburg, Idaho; Karen (Leon) Hoffman of Bountiful, Utah; Lynette (Dick) Jones of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Cheryl (Robert) Chisholm of Salt Lake City, Utah; Lanis Taylor of Bremerton, Washington; Douglas (Ronda) Kingsford of Smithfield, Utah; and Angela (Russell) Egbert of Decatur, Illinois. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren and counting! The family wishes to thank the many great people of Cove, Utah who looked out for her and cared for her so well for so many years.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25th at 12:00 pm in the Cove Ward Chapel with Bishop Mark Irvine conducting. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan Thursday evening from 6-8 pm and at the church Friday from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery.
