LaVell Miller
LaVell Miller, 86, died Friday, January 26, 2007 at
the Logan Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
LaVell was born September 29,1920 in Logan Utah. He
was the youngest child of Charles William and Ida
Hoffman Miller.
His entire education, elementary through advanced
college degrees, was in Logan schools. After school
hours, when he wasn't working for his parents, he rode
his bicycle to Logan Canyon. He hiked, fished, hunted,
hauled wood, or drove the canyon all of his life.
Starting at the age of ten he rode to Yellowstone in a
rumble seat of a model- T and he took his friends and
family back often.
He married Dorothy Daines on June 25, 1941 in the
Logan, Utah Temple. In April 1942 he enlisted in World
War II and left his young bride to serve his country
until December 1946.
He was actively involved in sports all of his life.
First as a participant and calling the action for the
last thirty years from the sidelines
Many in the community knew him in their youth. He was
their school or church teacher,
principal, or their first employer when they picked
pole beans on his farm.
At the heart of his life was his marriage, his
posterity, his service to others and his profession.
His life here was influenced by one Teacher. Dad meant
what he did, and he did what he meant and he went home
happy 100%!
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Daines Miller of
