Lenore Fallows
Hyrum, Utah: Lenore Fallows, 83, of Hyrum, Utah,
passed away peacefully on April 21, 2008, at Sunshine
Terrace in Logan, Utah. Lenore was born on June 28,
1924 in Hyrum, to Alfred and Flossie Fallows. The
youngest of four children, Lenore was raised and lived
her whole life in the family home in Hyrum until she
moved to assisted living in Logan in 2006.
Lenore received her education at South Cache High
School where she graduated in 1942.
As an adult she had a distinguished and enjoyable
career with the Mountain Bell Telephone Company where
she was widely recognized as an outstanding employee.
As a telephone operator she had many enjoyable
interactions with the community often speaking fondly
of that time in her life.
Lenore will always be remembered for the faithful and
loving care she gave to her mother, Flossie. She
maintained a warm home filled with kindness and
generosity of spirit faithfully serving her mother as
well as her many aunts and uncles. Lenore enjoyed
music, loved gardening and found meaning in life's
simple pleasures. One of her favorite times of the
year was the Fourth of July when friends and neighbors
would congregate on her porch and front lawn to watch
the Hyrum parade.
Throughout her life Lenore was a faithful and devoted
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, where she actively participated in genealogy
work in the family record extraction program. She
loved record keeping and family history. One of the
most memorable experiences in her life was serving a
mission for the church.
Lenore also enjoyed spending time doing beautiful
handwork and was an avid collector of unique ceramic
figurines, especially salt and pepper shakers from all
over the country. Her special treasure, though, was a
full-size original Shirley Temple doll.
A quiet and thoughtful person by nature, Lenore had a
surprisingly dry wit and unfailing sense of humor.
Though she carried many burdens later in life she
never lost her gentle manner and wonderful spirit.
Lenore was preceded in death by her mother, Flossie
Fallows, her father, Alfred Fallows, her two brothers,
Merlin and Dale, and her nephew, Jeff Rainbow.
She is survived by her sister, Vonna Rainbow of
Clayton, CA, many cousins, nieces, and nephews and by
loving friends and neighbors. The family would like to
express their gratitude to all those who gave such
generous and compassionate service to Lenore in her
latter years. We would also like to give special
thanks to her senior companion and to the staff at
Terrace Grove and Sunshine Terrace care facilities.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, May 3,
2008, in the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 E Center,
Logan, Utah with Bishop Steven Jensen conducting.
Friends and family may attend a viewing from 11:00 to
11:45 a.m. on Saturday at the Chapel prior to
services. Interment will be in the Hyrum Cemetery
following the services. Condolences may be sent to
the family at Allen Mortuaries.
