Lillie Saunders Olsen
Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother,
Lillie Saunders Olsen, 85, passed
away peacefully Feb. 9, 2005, at the Sunshine Terrace
in Logan, Utah.
She was born March 2, 1919 in Hyde Park, Utah, the
daughter of Willard Gimbert and
Kirstiana Andersen Saunders.
She married H. Russell Olsen on Nov. 23, 1938 in the
Logan LDS temple. They were
delighted and proud to have served on an LDS Spanish
speaking mission in the Corpus
Christi region of Texas. They enjoyed many loving
years together. Russell passed away in
1995.
Lillie owned a home in Quartzite, Arizona where she
enjoyed the winter months until
suffering a stroke in 1998. She enjoyed all types of
crafts but was particularly talented in
knitting and crochet. Lillie loved her family and
cared for them in many kind unselfish
ways. She will be greatly missed and remembered for
her countless thoughtful deeds.
Surviving are her children Kay (Dallan) Day of
Richmond, Utah, Cherry Case of West
Jordan, Utah and Dee Olsen of Nibley, Utah; her
brothers and sisters LeRoy (Helen)
Saunders, Dorothy (VerNon) Petersen, Donna Naylor,
Merlin (Venna) Saunders, Carroll
(Allen) Wayman, and Willard (Rosalie) Saunders; her
brothers and sisters in-law, Clara
Barlow, Reta (William) Fyffe, Caroll Orton, Doyle
(Catherine) Olsen, Gerald (Pat) Olsen,
Jesse Chandler and Janet Saunders. Also surviving are
12 grandchildren, 23
great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and
many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her brothers
and sisters, Aletha (Alonzo) Meservy,
Gilbert (Cary) Saunders, Earl (Mildred) Saunders, Mary
Chandler, Ruth (Leland) Palmer,
Donald (Anita) Saunders and Wendell Saunders; her
brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph Lynn Olsen, Dean
Naylor, Grant Barlow, Donald Orton, Danielle Olsen and
her
great-great-granddaughter.
A viewing is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday,
Feb. 13 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary,
34 E. Center St. in Logan and again at 11 :00 a.m. on
Monday, Feb. 14, at the location of
the funeral service.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on
Monday, Feb. 14, at the Providence 6th
ward church, 355 Canyon Road in Providence. Interment
will be in the Logan City cemetery.
The family would like to express their sincere
appreciation to the staff at the Sunshine
Terrace for the kind loving attention given to Lillie
during her stay there.
