Leonhardt (Len) U. Stauffer
PROVIDENCE, UTAH: Leonhardt (Len) U. Stauffer, 96,
lifelong resident of Providence, Utah, passed away
peacefully on January 3,2005 from causes incident to
age. He was born December 11, 1908 to Gottfried and
Friederika (Rickey) Stauffer at the family home in
Providence, Utah. He was the fourth of eight children.
On June 4th, 1935 he married Blanche Laverne Jensen in
Logan, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in
the Logan LDS Temple.
As a child, he grew up on the family farm learning the
importance of hard work and responsibility. He was
educated in the Cache County Schools. During World War
II he worked at Bushnell Hospital in Brigham City,
Utah as a guard and later worked for the Amalgamated
Sugar Company. However, most of his life, was spent
working for Legrand Johnson, Olaf Nelson and Olsen and
Davis construction companies. His work ethic was
admired by all those with whom he associated and
worked with.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being together with
his family; especially taking his two children fishing
down on the Logan River in the early evenings after
work. He raised sheep at the family home and many
memories are held by his grandchildren of being with
grandpa and the new baby lambs. He was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He
endured well, and is finally able to rest.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie (Jack)
Worthern, of Millville, and Gary C. (Carol Sue)
Stauffer, of Providence. A brother, Marion Stauffer,
of Logan and a sister Roma (Harold) Phillips of
Montpelier, ID; 7 grandchildren, 28
great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He
was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, two
sisters and a great-grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday,
January 7, 2005 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan.
Friends and family may call from 10:00 to 11 :30 A.M.
at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Providence
City Cemetery.
The family would like to express appreciation for the
care given by Dr. Michael J. Stones and the nurses,
aides and staff of Sunshine Terrace.
