Lowell Webb Yeates
NIBLEY, UTAH: Lowell Webb Yeates, 86, passed away
peacefully at his home in Nibley
on May 3, 2005.
He was born on March 31, 1919, in Nibley, Utah to
Israel and Marietta Yeates.
He was the youngest of seven children: Marvin, Myrtle,
Alexander, Sarah, Lula and Iola.
Lowell grew up in Nibley and attended Millville
Elementary, graduating from
South Cache High School and Utah State Agricultural
College with a B.S. in Business.
He married LaVone Jensen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple
on Oct. 24, 1941. They
are the parents of three daughters.
Lowell served in the 171st Engineer Combat Battalion
of the United States Army during World War II. He was
awarded the Silver Star Medal Citation for his courage
and leadership.
His occupation was that of accountant and office
manager. He was the co-owner
of the firm Huppi & Yeates Plumbing & Heating Co.
As a devoted and faithful member of the LDS Church,
his church service has been representative of his
strong testimony. He was a high priest and served in
many ward and stake callings.
Lowell has given much of his life to community
service, serving on the Nibley City Council,
Mil1vil1e-Nibley Cemetery Board, the Nibley City
History Committee, and an active member of the
American Legion.
He was happiest when working on his family history or
attending family reunions. He enjoyed working on his
farm and in the garden. He loved taking his trailer to
the Grand Teton National Park every summer and
spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, La Vone, and 3 daughters:
Linda (Bill) Cronquist of Springville, Utah, Patty
(David) Egan, and Leslie Yeates of Nibley, Utah. He
has 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, May
7, 2005, in the Nibley Utah Stake Center at 3701 S.
450 West Nibley, UT, with Bishop Gerald K. Knight
conducting. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.
Saturday at the Stake Center prior to services. Burial
will be in the Millville..Nibley Cemetery with
military honors by the American Legion. Funeral
arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences may
be sent to the family at Allen-Hall Mortuaries.
