Margaret Poppleton Maughan Anhder
Margaret Poppleton Maughan Anhder, 86, passed away
peacefully on
Sunday, December 19,2004, at her home in Richmond.
She was born December 05,1918, in Wellsville,
Utah, the fourth of nine children born to Charles
Nibley and Bertha Poppleton Maughan. She attended
schools in Wellsville, graduating from South Cache
High in 1937.
On September 16, 1938, she married her high
school sweetheart, Theron Boyd Anhder, in the Salt
Lake LDS Temple. They moved to Richmond in 1942. While
Theron was serving in the military, Margaret nurtured
her great loves of gardening, sewing, cooking, church
and civic organizations, and music. She saved enough
money to help them build their home, where the family
resided since 1951. Theron passed away July 03, 2004.
Margaret loved her church service, especially
working in the Primary. She also was involved in
service with the Relief Society, and sang for many
years with the Richmond Ladies Chorus. She was a
member of the Literary Club, and was thrilled to be a
member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
She spent many hours laboring with her husband in
their beautiful flower
and vegetable gardens. The iris was her favorite
flower, and she collected almost every variety. She
was an accomplished seamstress, making her own
patterns for clothes, crocheting, knitting, and
creating beautiful blankets.
Margaret is survived by three daughters, Kathy
Platis of Richmond, Margo (Michael) Mark of Amalga,
and Julie (Jerry) Case of Colorado Springs, CO; two
sons, Theron Mark (Barbara) Anhder, and Nolan Kurt
(Lisa) Anhder of Richmond; three sisters, Pauline (W
es) Roe, Bertha Whitehouse, and Pat (Garry) Dymock;
and one brother, Marshall (Coralie) Maughan. She also
has 27 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
parents, sisters Virgil and Connie, brothers Perry and
Gordon, a daughter Karren, and great-grandson Jacob.
Funeral services will be held at noon on
Thursday, December 23, 2004, in the Richmond Second
Ward LDS Chapel, at 150 South 100 East, with Bishop
Dan Richins conducting. The viewing will be held prior
to the funeral beginning at 10:00 am. Internment will
be in the Richmond City Cemetery.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to
Dr. Michael Stones and staff, IHC Hospice caregivers,
especially Anna, Bishop Richins, special
brothers-in-law Murray (Rae) Maughan, and LaMoine
(Pauline) Anhder, and very devoted neighbors and
friends.
