Mary Ellen Larsen Baugh
Mary Ellen Larsen Baugh, 90, was reunited with her
eternal companion on Saturday, November 25, 2006. She
passed away peacefully at Legacy House where she
resided for the past three months.
Mary was born on July 5, 1916 in Logan to Torval and
Bessie Larsen, and was the third of eight children.
She received her education in Logan City Schools. On
September 12, 1935, she married Russell Baugh in the
Logan LDS temple, and they lived in River Heights all
of their married life. They are the parents of four
children.
Mary loved her family and enjoyed being with her
children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and
other family members. Before her health deteriorated
she rarely missed a birthday or baptism, and enjoyed
attending piano recitals, soccer games and other
activities in which her family members participated.
She loved chocolate and anything sweet, and enjoyed
playing games. Family always came first with Mom.
She was a dedicated and loving caregiver to her
husband for many years before he passed away in 1986.
They are together again.
Mom was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints and served in many callings
throughout her lifetime. She loved visiting teaching
and found it hard to “retire” from this calling due to
her declining health.
Mary is survived by her children, Jay R. (Kathy)
Baugh of Smithfield, Duane R. (Linda) Baugh of
Fillmore, and Peggy Baugh of River Heights; six
grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one sister,
Ethel Quinn of Providence; and many special nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell
Baugh; infant daughter, Dixie Mae Baugh; and grandson,
Thomas Russell Baugh. Also preceding her in death
were her parents, two sisters and four brothers.
As a family we wish to express our sincere gratitude
to the aides and staff from Alpine Home Care and
Hospice and Legacy House for their love, kindness and
support in caring for Mom. We also offer special
thanks to Dr. Robert Nash and Kim for their care and
compassion, and to Donna Reid for being such a special
senior companion to Mom.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on
Tuesday, November 28 at the Providence Stake Center,
800 South 600 East in River Heights. A viewing will
be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to funeral
services at the Stake Center. Interment will be in
the Providence/River Heights Cemetery. Condolences and
memories may be extended to the family at
Allen Mortuaries.
