May Fitzgerald Thomas
May Fitzgerald Thomas, born February 18, 1913 in St.
George Utah, to Frank and Fayme Laub Fitzgerald,
returned to her Heavenly Father on March 19,2007.
She
grew up in Provo where she met and married Robert W.
Thomas, July 5, 1934. She affectionately referred to
him as "My Bob." He was the love of her life. They
were sealed in the Logan Temple where they later
served as ordinance workers. Theirs was a legacy of
love and devotion to family and working hard together.
His family was among the early settlers of Provo in
1851. May's sister, Elizabeth Morgan, and her brother,
Ted Fitzgerald, preceded her in death.
May enjoyed the love of two children, Jenneane Boley
and Robert F. Thomas, 9 grandchildren (Nancy Burgoyne,
Marcie Whipple, Lori Zubeck, Jill Frost, Scott Thomas,
Holley Aldred, Melanie Bullock, Ryan and Lindsay
Thomas) and 23 great-grandchildren who adore her! She
was a great source of encouragement and enjoyed
musical programs, school programs and sporting events
with them all. She was happiest when with those she
loved so very much. She loved to travel and, with her
husband, saw much of the United States. She loved
gardening and grew breath-takingly beautiful flowers.
She loved canning the fruits and vegetables she
tenderly nurtured. She loved all of nature and could
literally call birds from the trees to eat from her
hand. She was an optimist in the truest sense of the
word. She could find a patch of blue in the greyest
sky.
May's service included work with cub scouts, hospital
guild, BYU, PTA, at Geneva Steel and First Security
Bank.
Our thanks to the many who so lovingly served her in
her hours of need. Her sweet and generous countenance
will continue on far past the time that she spent here
on earth.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, at
10:30 a.m. in the Canyon View Stake Center, 675 East
800 North, Orem, under the direction of Allen-Hall
Mortuary. There will be a viewing that morning from
9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Provo City
Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
Allen Mortuaries.
