Martha Fern Checketts Dattage
PROVIDENCE, UTAH : Martha Fern Checketts Dattage, 90,
of Providence passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 at
the Logan Nursing and Rehab. Center. She was born on November 8,1915 in Millville, the
second of two children to William and Vanda Checketts.
She married Glen Henry Dattage on June 1, 1935, in
Logan. They later solemnized the marriage on Sept. 12,
1952, in the Logan LDS Temple. She was a member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She moved to Providence with her family as a young
girl. She attended the local schools, where she met
her future husband Glen. After their marriage they
settled in Providence and started their family. Fern
helped Glen in the fields with the farm harvests,
later she worked in Ogden at 2nd Street during the
war. When the children were a little older she worked
at the Sunshine Terrace as a cook. Fern served on the
Old Folks Committee for many years giving many years
of service. She was an excellent cook. Many Lions
parties were held at their home, Fern was a wonderful
hostess.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glen Henry
Dattage, her parents, William and Vanda Checketts; a
sister Wilma Checketts, a son, Clark LeRoy Dattage; a
grandson, Glen Henry Dattage 11; and a great-grandson,
Hinckley Dattage.
She was survived by her children,
Ardean (Arnold) Olson of Long Beach, CA, Glenda (Jake)
Zilles of College Ward, Elden (Tamra) Dattage of
Providence and Alan (Dorothy) Dattage of Vernal, Utah;
daughter-in-law, Karen and Rick Hepworth of Hyrum; 20
grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday,
Dec. 1, in the Providence LDS Ward Chapel. 155 N. 100
East, Providence, with Bishop Kent Lundgreen
conducting. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m on
Wednesday evening at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E.
Center, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the
church.
Interment will be in the Providence City
Cemetery. The family wishes to express appreciation to
the nurses at Logan Nursing and Rehab. Center and
hospice nurse, Peggy Wolfley for the care and
attention given to our loved one. Condolences may be

Allen Mortuaries.
