Margaret Wanda Felton Pope
Smithfield - Margaret Wanda Felton Pope, 81, passed
away in Salt Lake City, Utah at the LDS Hospital on
December 2, 2004.
She was born on March 25, 1923 in Park City, Utah to
George Fletcher and Lucius and Jennie Ellen Felton of
Snyderville, Utah. She married Max A. Pope in June
17, 1942 in Snyderville, Utah. They were sealed in
the Salt Lake City Temple a few months later.
She graduated from Park City High School in 1941 and
attended a trade school in SLC with emphasis in
sewing.
She lived in Park City after her marriage and later
moved to Soda Springs, Idaho for a short time. In
1947, they moved to Arbon Valley where they were dry
land wheat farmers.
In 1956, they built a home in Arimo, Idaho, where
their children could attend schools that were closer
to home.
During the spring of 1969, they moved to Montpelier,
Idaho, where they owned and operated the Crest Motel.
When they retired in 1976, they moved to Smithfield,
Utah, where she has lived until her passing.
She enjoyed her family, gardening, reading,
handiwork, temple work, and traveling.
She is survived by three sons and three daughters:
Dennis (Mardean) of Rexburg, Idaho; Janet (Ray)
Clements of Orem, Utah; Connie Mickelson of Logan,
Utah; Howard (Cathy) of Garden City, Utah; Lewis
(Chris) of Montpelier, Idaho; and Beckie (Allan)
Swainston of Preston, Idaho. She is also survived by
36 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren, and three
sisters; LaVern Miller of Mesa, Arizona; Grace (Glade)
Hone of St. George, Utah; and Beverly (Stanley) Pace
of Park City, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce; her
husband, Max; a brother, Robert Felton; and a sister,
LouElla Oakeson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday,
December 6, 2004, in the Smithfield 6th Ward Chapel.
A viewing will be held at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34
E. Center Street in Logan on Sunday evening from 6 to
8 PM, and one hour prior to services at the church on
Monday. Interment will be in the Richmond Cemetery.
