LOGAN, UTAH: Naomi Quayle Smith, 81, of Logan, died Saturday, December 29, 2007 in Logan.

She was born February 17, 1926 in Montpelier, Idaho a daughter of Joseph Larson and Addie Mabel Hillman Quayle. She married Morris Thorpe Smith on December 15, 1950.

She spent her childhood on a ranch in Swan Lake, Idaho. She graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in 1952 with a degree in Art Education. She was an active member of the Logan 19th Ward where she served in the Relief Society as a secretary and as a visiting teacher. She was a ward choir member for “a long time” and also a member of the Bel Canto Ladies Choir for many years. She spent decades of service as a “Pink Lady” volunteer at both the old LDS Hospital and the Logan Regional Hospital. She was known for many acts of kindness and thoughtfulness to patients and family members who were in the hospital. She was an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and also served in the Women’s American Legion Auxillary. She was a skilled softball player in her youth and was a talented square dancer with her husband, Morris. Naomi loved her family and was loved by them.

Survivors include her husband, Morris; three children, Denise Reeder, Logan; Barry Q. and Martie Smith, Smithfield; Deven Paul Smith, Denver, CO; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Dog and Betty Quayle, St. George; Calvin and Virginia Quayle, Wisconsin; Don and Vonne Quayle; Maryland; three sisters, Betty Cunnington, Boise; Paddy and Jack Fullmer, Washington; Carol and Spence Thatcher, California. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Quayle and a sister Janet Wallin.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:00 pm in the Logan 19th Ward Chapel, 1255 North 600 East. There will be a viewing Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and on Friday at the church from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
