LOGAN, UTAH: Peter A. (Pete) Merrill, 78, passed away Saturday Aug. 13, 2005 at Logan Regional Hospital TCU after a long struggle with many health problems. Pete was born in Logan on Sept. 7, 1926. Son of Dr. WW Merrill and Beena P. Merrill (Gabrielsen).

Pete attended Logan City schools. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II traveling to the South Pacific and China. On June 27, 1950 he married Ardella Hendricks. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. They are the parents of 2 children, Lyle Peter and Sherry Lynn.

He was employed by USU Physical Plant for over 37 years, retiring in 1987. He then enjoyed working at Williamsburg Retirement Inn until 1998 when he lost his eye sight.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: home, friends and family. When his health was better he enjoyed walking.

Pete was the third of six children. He is survived by his wife, Ardella, son Lyle (Angie) of Logan, daughter Sherry (Tracy) Brown of Logan, brothers John (Beverly), and Les both of California, and sister in law (Alice Simonsen) of Midway, UT, 8 grandchildren Brandon Merrill USMC, Okinawa, Japan., Stacy Merrill of Oklahoma, Joshua Wright, Stacey Wright, Michelle (Nathan) Johnson, Lisa Brown, Jamie Brown, Stephen Brown all of Logan, and 1 great grandchild Kaylee Johnson also of Logan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Ollie Jean, a brother Robert (Bob) and a brother WW Jr. (Bill).

Services will be at 12:00 pm Thursday August 18,2005 at Allen-Hall Mortuary. 34 East Center Logan, UT. Family and friends may attend the viewing Wed. 6-8 pm and Thurs. 10:30 -11 :30 am prior to the service. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery with a military tribute by the American Legion.
