Richard Brough Hall
Richard Brough Hall, 53, passed on Monday, August 2,
2004. Born on September 15, 1950 in Logan, Utah to
Owen H. Hall and Alice Brough Hall.
He received his high school education at Logan High.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
from Utah State University in 1972 and went on to
complete a Master’s degree in Engineering from the
University of Utah in 1980.
Richard spent his entire career working for the State
of Utah. He began as an engineering intern for the
Department of Transportation. Working his way through
various jobs in transportation before moving to the
Division of Water Rights and Natural Resources.
Knownas the “Dam Man”, he was promoted to Assistant State
Engineer for Dam Safety, a position in which he served
for 14 years. Rick was responsible for the
implementation of Utah’s Comprehensive Dam Safety
Program after the Teton Dam failure prompted new
standards.
Richard enjoyed outdoor
activities including boating, snow skiing and camping.
As an accomplished wood craftsman, he created
beautiful furniture for family and friends. Restoring
cars was a life long love including a 1963 Chevy
pickup and two 1971 CJ5 Jeeps for his daughters.
Married Brenda K Scofield in 1972. They had two
children, Jocelyn Hall and Katrina Hall. He is
preceded in death by his mother, Alice Hall, and
father Owen Hall. He is survived by stepmother
Florence Hall, brother Bruce (Dianne) Hall, and twin
sisters Judy Greene and Joanne (Terrell) Anderson, and
half sister Marie (Bart) Duce and his long time friend
Norma Janko.
Funeral Service will be
held at 1:00 pm Friday, August 6, 2004 at the
Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan, Utah. Friends and family
may call from 11:30 to 12:45 at the Allen- Hall
Mortuary. Interment at the Hyrum Cemetery in Hyrum
Utah. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to
the American Lung Association.
