LOGAN, UTAH - Jessie Ruth Malin Harris passed away peacefully on January 5, 2005 at the Terrace Grove in Logan, Utah.

She was born on October 31, 1913 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Charles Malin and Francis Gray Malin. She attended West High School in Salt Lake City and graduated from the University of Utah in 1939, majoring in Home Economics and a minor in Art. She was awarded a teaching assistantship at Utah State University to work in the nursery school. Later on she fell in love and was married to Joseph Harris on Dec. 21, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

During World War II, she initiated and supervised the Child Care program in Davis County. She was a teacher her whole life and taught kindergarten in the Oakwood School for many years. She enjoyed teaching children and being a part of their education.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings including teacher and coordinator at Ward and Stake levels with the children’s organizations. She also loved her calling to work in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and in the Genealogical Society.

She is survived by her only son Victor Leon Harris and is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Reuel Harris.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 1:00 PM at the Salt Lake Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 - 11 AM prior to services at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St, Logan, Utah.
