Ruth Q. Nielsen
Ruth Q. Nielsen, our beloved Mother, Grandmother and
Friend passed away April 13, 2007 after 93 years of
gracious living. Those who love her are blessed with
wonderful memories of her kindness, compassion,
loyalty, and ability to laugh (particularly at
herself).
She desired always to be of service to each member of
her family. This desire extended beyond our family, to
friends and community as well. Mother gave many years
of service in volunteering her time and talents. She
has served faithfully in church callings, Red Cross
and 20 years serving on the board of the Sunshine
Terrace Foundation. It was in her work with Sunshine
Terrace that Mother found interest and fulfillment in
her later years.
In 1995 The USU Womans Center Advisory Board honored
her with the "Woman Over 65 Achievement Award".
Our dear Mother came to this life February 9,1914 in
Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was raised in the loving home
of her parents William L. and Connie M. Quayle in
Laramie Wyoming. Her older sister Enid Q. Purintun
held an important place in Mother's heart throughout
her life.
In 1932 Mother left Wyoming to attend Utah State
University and while there met our Father, Noble
Nielsen. They married February 9, 1933.Their
daughters, Pamela N. Peterson and Connie N. Olsen
(Scott), five grandchildren, eleven great
grandchildren and two great-great children will
proudly carry our loving memories of this dear woman
until we once again unite with her to begin creating
new memories together.
We acknowledge with heartfelt gratitude the countless
hours of friendship and service provided to our mother
by her special cousin, Loye Painter. Terrace Grove
Assisted Living Center staff has cared for Mother for
six years, we thank them sincerely for the care and
kindness extended to Mother and to her family. CNS
Hospice was included into Mothers care a few months
ago and they have provided extra help and kindness in
her hours of greatest need. To Julie and Stacey we
extend our gratitude.
It would honor Mother if those wishing would make a
donation in her memory to The Sunshine Terrace
Foundation.
