Sadie Beebe Elder
Sadie Beebe Elder passed away November 3, 2005 at the age of 100 in Tremonton, Utah in the Bear River
Valley Care Center. She was born October 12, 1905 in Marysvale, Utah to Gilbert Reed and Emma Adelica Beebe.
Sadie married Oliver Q. Elder in the Manti Temple on March 1, 1923. Q passed away January 23, 1982.
Together they raised six children as they farmed and worked in building construction; Q the muscle and
Sadie the organizer and bookkeeper. She moved several times going from Woodso, Johns Valley in Southern Utah
to Orem then Smithfield for some years moving to Los Gatos, California for a short time, back to Smithfield for
many years and living in Oregon with two of her daughters for some years prior to moving to the Care Center in
Tremonton, Utah. Her greatest success and joy came from her service to her family, which all of her children,
grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren are eternally grateful. She really made a
great impact on all of our lives for good.
Sadie received a lot of satisfaction in serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she
actively served in about every calling there is. She also loved working for a time in the bishops store house
while living in California. One of her great loves was working in the temple for many, many years. All who had
the privilege of working with Sadie were reinforced with her positive feedback and love; this she gave freely as
one of her gifts to others.
She was a talented knitter and crotchetier, making afghans and quilts for many of her posterity. Sadie also
loved to grow gardens; the produce from her few plants was always amazing.
She is welcomed on the other side by her parents and siblings, her husband, Oliver Q.; daughter Myrdith Rice;
daughter-in-law, Ilene Elder; great grand daughters: Carolyn Conner Elder and Emily Elder Barrus; great grandsons:
Jaden Elder and Jacob Walker; great-great grandsons: Jacob Anhder and Benjamin Foster.
Sadie is survived by her children: Juana Spohn (Clair) of Aloha, Oregon; Valeen Brady (Max) of Yam Hill, Oregon;
(Dick) Rice of Cedar City, Utah; Ronald Elder (Beverly) of Smithfield, Utah; Doral Elder (Rae) of Logan, Utah;
