Wyoming to Delbert Abraham and LaRee Child Chadwick.
She grew up in Fairview, Wyoming on a small farm with
four brothers and four sisters. Valeen graduated from
Star Valley High School and worked at the bank in
Afton for three years. She married Mack W. Brown in
the Salt Lake Temple on April 23, 1947. He left a
week later on a mission to Hawaii and Valeen received
a special call to serve with him during the latter
part of his mission. They served together on the
island of Kauai.
In November 1950, Mack and Valeen moved from the
family ranch in Fairview, Wyoming to a small farm in
Smithfield, Utah. Later they moved to Logan where they

daughters. Valeen was employed as a part-time pastry
cook at The Bluebird in Logan. She was later employed
for twenty-one years at the office of Tri-Miller
Packing Company in Hyrum, Utah. Valeen and Mack were
later divorced.
Douglas Bird, a son-in-law, introduced Valeen to
Darwin Rawlings. When Darwin asked for a first date,
she turned him down, but later changed her mind and
went out with him. They were married in the Logan
Temple July 1, 1975. They blended their two families
and made their home in North Logan.
After her retirement from Tri-Miller Packing Company,
Valeen and Darwin received a mission call to the South
Africa Cape Town Mission. They had many special
experiences and enjoyed their service there. Returning
home, she received a call to the Logan Temple where
she served until her passing.
As an active LDS church member, Valeen had the
opportunity to serve two missions. She served as a
teacher in many of the organizations of the church.
She was a Primary President, a counselor in the YWMIA,
a stake missionary, and a stake Relief Society board
member. She loved genealogy and enjoyed working at the
