WANDA WHEELER BODILY
LEWISTON, UTAH: Wanda W. Bodily, 83, passed away June
15,2007 in Logan, Utah from complications of a stroke.
She was born December 20, 1923 in Lewiston Utah, the
first child of Lloyd Joseph and Delva Allen Wheeler.
As a young girl she learned to work hard to do her
part of the farm and house work. She was educated in
Lewiston city schools and North Cache High School,
graduating in 1942.
She married Bardo M. Bodily July 23, 1945 in the Logan
LDS temple. Together they worked hard to establish
their home in Lewiston, expanding their farm and
raising their family until Bardo's passing in January
1986. Her garden and flowers beautified her yard and
brought her great joy.
Over the years, Wanda was a very caring person. Many
people were on the receiving end of her many deeds of
kindness and loving concern. Many were recipients of
good food she cooked, quilts and other handy work she
made. She loved being visited by her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest
wish at the end of her life was that she could cook
one last grand meal for all of them. She also enjoyed
many special friendships that have endured over many
years.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints, participating in teaching and
leadership positions in Primary, Young Women and
Relief Society. She thoroughly enjoyed her 8 1/2 years
as Relief Society President, serving under three
different Bishops. She had a great love for the Savior
and an unwavering faith in His restored gospel that
she actively shared with family and friends. We will
surely miss our earthly angel who has gone on to
fulfill her next assignment and be with family and
friends who have been waiting for her.
Over the years Wanda enjoyed the association of many
good people that she worked with at the Smithfield
Livestock Auction, Talbot's Market, Lewiston
Elementary School and Gossner Foods. She loved
mingling with her friends to square dance, to quilt,
at Birthday Club parties, at Literary Club meetings
and at Daughters of Utah Pioneers meetings. Everyone
who knew her quickly fell in love with her.
She is survived by her sister Ressa Wheeler Yantis,
Council, ID and brother Allen (Dolores) Wheeler,
Lewiston, UT; her children, Lloyd Edwin (Sharron)
Bodily, Smithfield, Ut, Steven (Vicki) Bodily,
Lewiston, Ut, Ellen (Lloyd) Pugmire, St. Charles, Id
and Ted (Melanie) Bodily, Lewiston, Ut, 18
grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Wanda was
preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter
Susan Bodily Thurgood, son-in-law Dennis Thurgood and
granddaughter Brandi Thurgood.
