Wayne Lincoln Smith
Wayne Lincoln Smith, 84, died at home in the care of
his family on Sunday evening, August 13, 2006. He
lived fully and loved life and all who were part of
his life.
Wayne was born in Logan, February 12, 1922, to James
A. Smith and Loretta Mitchell. He married his high
school sweetheart, Joyce Chloe Wyatt, on December 9,
1942, in the Logan Temple. Joyce preceded him in death
on September 25, 1996. He graduated from Logan High
School in 1942 and continued his studies at Utah State
University. His love of flying led him to serve his
country in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-24 bomber
pilot and instructor during World War II. After the
war he continued his studies at U.S.U. and Idaho State
University where he earned his pharmacy degree. After
a short time in California he returned to his beloved
Cache Valley where he practiced his profession of
pharmacy and served the people of Logan for over 40
years. His faith and devotion was manifest in
life-long service and friendship to others and duty to
his Church. Among many other callings he served as a
Bishop, High Council member, teacher, temple
officiator, and missionary with his wife, Joyce, in
the California-Sacramento Mission. On July 8, 2000, he
married LuDene Reese Poulsen and together they loved
and supported each other.
He is survived by his wife, LuDene Smith, his five
children, Christene (John) Brown, Chloe (Blaine)
Zollinger, Carol Braegger, Craig (Kim) Smith, and
Cathy (Steven) Leishman; 23 grandchildren; 26
great-grandchildren; four step children; 19 step
grandchildren; 20 step great-grandchildren; and his
brother, Dean Smith.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 18,
2006 at the Dry Canyon Ward Chapel, 1350 E. Eastridge
Drive in Logan. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m.
Thursday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and from 9:30 to
10:45 a.m. Friday at the Ward. Burial will be in Logan
Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction
of Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan.
