Brad H. Dance
Brad H. Dance, 42, beloved husband, father, son,
brother, uncle, and prominent businessman died
suddenly on April 8, 2004 from injuries sustained in a
tragic car accident while vacationing with his family
in Idaho.
He was born in Logan, Utah, on May 8, 1961 to Harold
W. and Ruth Ballard Dance. He graduated from Logan
High School and LDS Seminary in 1980 where he excelled
in academics, student government, music, and sports.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints in the Japan Tokyo North Mission. He
loved the Japanese people. He attended BYU and
graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor
of Arts in Finance. He was also a graduate of the
College for Financial Planning and from the LDS
Institute. Brad had a keen mind and a love for
learning.
While attending BYU Brad and Tammy Tessmer fell in
love and were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on
October 19, 1985. He was always so supportive of his
wife and the menagerie of animals that she needed.
Brad and Tammy were blessed with four beautiful
children; Taylor, Tanner, Jenny, and Luke. Brad loved
being a dad and died while doing what he loved most,
spending time with his family traveling and
experiencing new things. He gave his children a
lifetime of memories in a few short years, because he
was so interested in them and wanted to show them the
world and teach them. He was very proud of them.
He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served
his Heavenly Father well. He served as Elder’s Quorum
President and 1st Counselor, Scoutmaster, Ward Mission
leader, a Sunday school, Primary, and Home teacher,
and was currently serving as the Executive Secretary
for the Fruitland Acres Ward.
He was a gospel scholar,
and a gifted teacher. He loved church history and had
a very strong testimony of the gospel. It is a comfort
for us to know that he was such a good person who
tried to do what was right and was kind to others.
Brad served as President of Harold Dance Investments
and was a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He was
recognized as a leader in his field. The American
Funds Group recently invited him to New York City as
part of their President’s Club. Putnam Investments had
named Brad to their Golden Scale Counsel. He truly
enjoyed teaching, working with, and serving his
clients.
He loved music, namely Jazz, Blues, and the trombone,
which he played. He also had a love for playing and
watching sports. Golf and tennis were two of his
favorites. He loved to teach his children and
participate with them in all of their activities. He
was especially faithful as a soccer coach several
times. He had mentioned lately how much fun it was to
take a team, teach them, and see them improve. He
loved each one of the children that he coached. Brad
taught his children the love he had for tennis. He
loved to play with them and take them to watch and
participate in tennis tournaments. One highlight was a
trip to New York to watch the U.S. Open.
Brad is survived by his parents: Harold and Ruth Dance
of Logan, UT, his wife: Tammy, and children: Taylor
Brad, Tanner Tessmer, Jenny Marie, and Luke Ballard
all of Providence, UT, his sisters: Debbie and Bob
Ellis of Providence, UT, and Dixie (Werner) and Wayne
Finlayson of Bountiful, UT, and ten nieces and
nephews. He loved his friends and extended family very
much.
