Buddy Dean Hansen
LOGAN, UTAH: Our beloved brother, uncle, friend, and
“Hero”, Buddy Dean Hansen , 54, returned home to his
Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 in Logan,
after a courageous twenty year battle with Multiple
Sclerosis.
Bud was born on Nov. 27th, 1949 to Delbert C. and
Dolly Jenkins Hansen of Garden City, Utah. Bud was
active in many sports while growing up. He loved
roller skating,
ice skating, tennis, racquetball, and playing
softball.
While growing up he was deemed one of the
fastest and best raspberry pickers in Garden City. Bud
loved to go deer hunting each fall with his brothers
and sister. He loved the time they spent together, as
much as he enjoyed the hunt. He had a sense of humor,
that was hard to beat.
Bud had several different jobs
during his life, working until the M. S. made it
impossible to continue. Bud served 2 years in
the United States Navy, spending most of his time in
Hawaii and Japan with a tour in Vietnam. Bud was a
kind and giving soul. He was an Elder in the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spent the last 8
½ years of his life in the Sunshine Terrace. Bud
fought a good fight and is a “Hero” to all who knew
him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a
brother (Rodney), a sister-in-law (Marilyn), a
brother-in-law (Art) and a great niece, Shaelyn.
He is
survived by a very special aunt, Rula Hansen, Garden
City, Ut.; a special uncle and aunt, Lavarr and
Lavaun, Riverdale, Ut., and an uncle, Roy Hansen,
Ogden, Ut. Also surviving are four brothers and three
sisters, Delmoine and (Colleen) Hansen, Paris, Idaho;
Marlene Hess, Cokeville, Wyoming; Beverly (Art) Rufi,
Evanston, Wyoming; Dennis (Marsha) Hansen, Mountain
View, Wyoming; Vern (Jo) Hansen, Layton Utah; Huck
(Jana) Hansen, Smithfield Utah; and Deb Hansen, Logan,
Utah., and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful
friends.
The family would like to express a very heartfelt
thanks, to all of the employees at Sunshine Terrace
for their service and love for Bud. Also, a special
thanks to Bud's physician, Kevin Duke M.D., to Vista
Care Hospice for their love and support, and his
special roommate Robert LeRoy. Bud you will be greatly
missed, but you will always be in our hearts. We love
you so much. Bud would tell everyone who had the
privilege of knowing him, "Remember me with smiles and
laughter, for that is how I will remember you." In
lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made
to Sunshine Terrace in Bud's name. Sunshine Terrace,
225 North 200 West, Logan, UT 84321.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 21,
2004 at 11:00 am in the Garden City Cemetery with a
