Betsy P. Milligan
Betsy (Beth) P. Milligan, 91, passed away peacefully
Sunday, May 2,2004, in Providence, Utah.
She was born November 30, 1912, in Wellsville, Utah,
daughter of Leroy W. and Violet Parker Parkinson. She
grew up in Wellsville and worked hard on the family
farm milking cows and helping in the fields. She also
enjoyed going on family camping trips up Logan Canyon,
as well as to Bear Lake and Yellowstone.
She married Merlin Riggs Murray on September 24, 1930.
They made their home in Wellsville. They were blessed
with three children, Renee, Betsy Jean, and Paul. They
were later divorced.
On June 19, 1958, she married Warren Milligan. They
lived in River Heights. This became her home for the
next 45 years.
Betsy began work as a housekeeper at the Logan LDS
Hospital in 1951. One year later she was asked to be a
nurse's aide which she did until she retired in 1972.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, camping, fishing, and
traveling. Over the years she met many dear friends
and developed many treasured relationships.
Betsy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints. She took pleasure in attending the
Temple.
She is survived by her three children, Renee (Lyle)
Anderson of Richmond, Betsy (William A) Swenson of
River Heights, and Paul (Nola) Murray of Mendon; 8
grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 7
great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her
brother and sister-in-law Grant (Millicent) Parkinson,
Wellsville, and a sister and brother-in-law Aniece
(Kay) Alder, Malad, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, May
13,2004, at the Providence, Utah Stake Center, 800 So
600 E. River Heights. Friends and family may call
Wednesday, May 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen-Hall
Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. Logan, or prior to services
from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the stake center.
Internment will be in the Providence Cemetery.
