Franklin Christopher Boyer
HYRUM, UTAH: Franklin Christopher Boyer, 18, was
called home by his Heavenly Father, Wednesday,
December 17, 2003, after suffering fatal injuries in a
skiing accident in Park City, Utah.
Christopher came into our lives on September 11, 1985.
Chris is the youngest of six children born to Wayne E.
and Kathryn (Kathy) Olsen Boyer of Paradise, Utah. He
was our Itty-Bitty Buddy. He soon outgrew his nickname
and became known to all as "Bud." One of his greatest
pleasures in life is being an uncle. He is everybody's
best friend.
Chris loves the gospel of Jesus Christ and many times
expressed a desire to serve a mission. He is a member
of the Priest Quorum of Paradise First Ward LDS Church
and enjoys being a part of their many activities. He
loves being outdoors and working on the Olsen Dairy.
Bud spends his free time hunting alongside his
Labrador, "Tyke" with his family and friends. He loves
camping, hiking, snowmobiling, skiing, and many more
outdoor activities. Bud and his brothers have the
tradition of a week-long backpacking trip in the
mountains each summer. He always looks forward to any
time spent in the mountains--especially with his
family.
He participated in the Boy Scout program and attended
National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill, VA in 2001. He
loves the Scouting program and achieved the rank of
Eagle Scout.
Bud is a senior at Mountain Crest High School. Chris
was selected as December's Student of the Month by the
Mountain Crest Fine Arts Department. He loves school
and excels in math and science. He enjoys his
woodworking classes and is a teacher's aide. He
brought home many pieces of pottery from his ceramics
classes which he and his family really enjoy. Chris
was a member of the Cross Country Team during his
sophomore year.
After serving an LDS Mission, Chris planned on joining
the Army and serving his country. His goal was to be a
warrant officer and fly the Apache and Comanche
helicopters. He loves his country and wanted to follow
his father, brother, sister, and ancestors who have
served to protect our freedoms.
Chris will be remembered for his unique laugh, his
large, work-hardened hands, and his cheerful,
compassionate nature. Jesus Christ is his hero and he
tried to emulate those attributes in his life.
Christopher is survived by his parents Wayne and
Kathryn Boyer of Paradise and his brothers and
sisters: Christine Boyer of Paradise; Raymond and Tara
Boyer of Orem; Robert Boyer of Logan; Rebecca and Evan
Hunting of Thatcher; Jonathan Boyer of Paradise; his
grandmother Kathryn Olsen of Smithfield; also his two
nieces Caitlin and Tayla Boyer of Orem; his nephew
Garret Egelund of Thatcher; and his dog Tyke. He was
preceded in death by his grandparents Gideon Olsen of
Paradise and Raymond L. and Lucille Boyer of
Lafayette, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:00 pm in
the Hyrum South Stake Center, 600 South 200 East. A
viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00
pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan and at the
church Monday from 10:00 - 11:45 am. Interment will
be in the Paradise Cemetery.
Our family wishes to thank those special friends who
were with Chris on the ski mountain for the love and
the care they showed him. We also wish to thank The
Canyons Resort for the professional and compassionate
manner in which they handled these circumstances. We
are grateful for the support of the Cache County and
Summit County Sheriff Offices. We are so very thankful
for the love, support, and prayers in our behalf.
