David Jay Griffin
David Jay Griffin, 65, passed away peacefully at home
due to a lingering illness of congestive heart failure
on March 27, 2004.
He was born Dec. 19, 1938, on his mother’s birthday,
to Spencer Grenville and Ida Cooper Griffin of
Providence.
David began his education at Providence Elementary and
graduated from South Cache High School where he was a
member of Future Farmers of America. He completed 2
years at Utah State University.
He served in Fort Ord, California for the Army where
he developed a specialty of being a great cook and a
great love for his country.
He married his sweetheart, Marlene Dunbar on June 8,
1962 in the Logan LDS Temple for time and eternity.
They made their life long home in Providence.
David worked greatly at various occupations including
dairy farming, driver at LeGrand Johnson Construction
and others. He was employed with Amcor and Thiokol.
He just completed his 20 year successful project of
Green Meadow Subdivision and was a member of the
Providence Lions Club.
He enjoyed farming with his father, his uncle Dave,
and his two sons, Jerry and Jason. Dad worked hard
for his family everyday and for their future. He
loved his wife and was by her side constantly. He was
the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, and
friend.
Although not physically able he was supportive behind
the scenes with his kids and grandkids. As an Elder
of the Providence 4th Ward he served in the Sunday
School Presidency and various callings.
He is survived by his wife Marlene, daughters Jill
(Reese) Petersen, JaNan (Jodie) Esplin, Jalene (E.J.)
Fillmore; sons, Jerry David (Kathryn) Griffin, and
Jason William (Amy) Griffin; Grandchildren, Jenna,
Jayd, Justin, Elsha, Alexandria, Erica, Dallas, Ethan,
Jaxon, Kaden, Jaida, Holly, Adam, Brandi;
Great-grandchildren, Maddeline, MaKayla, Rhett,
Sidney, Cameron, Caylee, and Waylon; sisters,
Elizabeth (Steven) Wood of Provo, Janet (Guy Ray)
Pulsipher of Avon, Ida Mae Bankhead of Ogden;
sister-in-law, Carol Griffin of Antioch, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Wade
Griffin and brother, Spencer Dee Griffin.
Dad, we love you forever.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 30,
2004, at the Providence 4th Ward Chapel, 155 East 100
North, Providence at 12:00 PM. Friends may call
Monday evening from 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from
10:30-11:30 AM at the church.
