Dayle Conrad Madsen
Dayle Conrad Madsen, 77, passed away on
Tuesday September 30, 2003 following his battle
with cancer.
Dayle was born in Montpelier, Idaho on June 24, 1926
to Emanuel Conrad and Teona Charlotte
Anderson Johnson Madsen. He was the third of four
children.
He lived in Montpelier until the age of 4. In 1930
the family moved to Logan, Utah. His father
passed away on October 21, 1932. On June 11, 1935 his
mother married Eugene Schaub.
Dayle attended Logan city schools where he graduated
from Logan High School.
On June 4, 1944 he was drafted into the Navy where he
served as a Bosun’s mate on the USS
Brule APA 66. He served for 2 years and was released
September 1946.
Upon completion of his military service he returned
home and worked with Eugene Schaub
where he made blue prints and surveyed properties. He
attended USU on the GI bill. He met
Melgene Noble and dated for two years before being
married on June 20, 1949 in Logan, UT.
Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on
January 12, 1959. They had four
children, Diane, Gary, Craig and Kim.
In 1999 he renewed his acquaintance with Carol Evans
and on July 16, 1999 they were married
in Elko, Nevada.
Dayle worked in construction all of his life. He was
the foreman for many large companies in the
valley and frequently traveled out of town to oversee
projects. He worked on the Fine Arts
building at USU. He also worked on the football
stadium and the Spectrum. He built several
churches for the LDS church locally and in Maryland.
He held many positions in the LDS Church including
Elders quorum president, Scout Master,
Counselor in a University Ward Bishopric, High Priest
group leader along with a constant home
teaching assignment. He also spent two years as a
temple worker in the Logan Temple.
He was a talented carpenter and used his talents to
make many things for friends and family. He
liked to hunt, fish, camp and travel.
He is survived by his wife Carol, four children, Diane
(Tom) Jackson, Boise, Idaho; Gary
(Jackie) Madsen, Boise, Idaho; Craig (Lisa) Madsen,
Hyrum, Utah; Kim Madsen, Ogden, Utah;
14 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He is
also survived by a sister Joan Nelson.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 am in the
River Heights First Ward Chapel, 800 South
600 East, with Bishop Troy Wakefield conducting.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday
at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center St, Logan and at
the church from 9:30 am Friday until the
time of services. Interment will be in the Logan
Cemetery.
