Eli Joseph Drakulich, "Chief"
Eli Joseph Drakulich passed away peacefully on
Saturday, May 10, 2003 in Sandy, Utah.
Eli was born on September 29,1914 in Garfield, Utah to
Joseph and Mary Drakulich. He graduated from West High
School in 1933.
While serving in the army as a
Military Policeman during World War II, he met his
sweetheart Maurine Olivia Rolfsen in Salt Lake City.
In 1942 they were married in Evanston, Wyoming. Eli
and his family moved to Logan, Utah in 1946 where Eli
was appointed Chief of Police.
During that time, he
was elected president of the Utah Peace Officers
Association. He proudly served Logan City as Chief of
Police for 27 years. After retiring from the police
force, he accepted a position at the Utah State
University Athletics Department. He enjoyed working at
U.S.U. for 15 years. He was a loyal Aggie sports fan
and attended football and basketball games regularly.
After full retirement he was able to spend more time
with his friends and family. Eli had countless friends
and each one was special to him. Every morning he
looked forward going to the bakery to visit with his
best buddies.
Eli was kind, generous, and honest. He had a charming
personality and outstanding sense of humor. He will be
missed by all who knew him.
He is reunited with his devoted wife of 60 years,
Maurine Olivia Rolfsen, who died March 18,2003. He was
also preceded in death by his daughter Maurine Olivia
Drakulich, sister Millie Sasich, and brother Nick
Drakulich.
He is survived by his daughter, Marianne
Camp, grandchildren, Kristen (Jesus) Partida, Rebecca
Camp, Michael Camp, Gregory Camp, and his two adorable
great-granddaughters, Olivia and Lauren. He is also
survived by his sisters Dolly (Larry) Smith, Sava
Varechok, Bessie Drakulich, Mary Drakulich, and his
niece and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 14,
2003 at 12:00 p.m.
at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan,
Utah. A viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. -11:30
a.m. that morning.
